We drove from Vegas to Utah to see the Zion National Park and the Bryce Canyon in the afternoon. the National Parks in Utah
The Zion National Park
We stopped to take a couple of photos. The scenery was stunning. Read more about backpacking Northern Utah by Will Hatton.
We were in the middle of the desert, there was nothing around us. We had no cell phone reception in the desert. We stopped at a local restaurant in the middle of nowhere. I had the best banana cream pie of my life in this small local place. i will never forget that banana cream pie.

We continued driving towards the Bryce Canyon.
Bryce Canyon was a truly breath-taking experience. It is one of those places that you can see 1000 pictures of, but you will have to be there in person to truly experience this place. You feel so small among these giant orange rock formations. It is a magical experience to be part of this magnificent nature.
We spent the night in a motel on the border of Utah and Arizona. We had dinner at the local diner type of place. I am not a fan of diners, but there was nothing else around there. There was a big sign on the door that no guns are allowed inside. It s scary! Lets not forget that we were in the middle of Wild Wild West. Everything on the menu of the diner was deep fried in oil. I ordered the only salad they had on the menu. Even that was swimming in oil. Everyone in the restaurant was grossly overweight. I am sorry I come from NY and people look much healthier around there.
Thanks to Daniel Varga for taking some of these beautiful photos. See more of his photos here.
