We went to Paris for a long weekend with fellow travel blogger for the pret-a-porter fashion week (fashion week de Paris). Fashion week is always special as there are many fashion shows and fashion parties packed with celebrities and it is also a good time for me to catch up with friends who live in Paris. My friend loves fashion, she is the most fashionable friend I have and she writes for some fashion magazine, because of that she gets access to a lot of shows and fashion events. Otherwise, Paris Fashion Week tickets are nearly impossible to get. I arrived to Paris on a Thursday night, we stayed by the Arc de Triomphe near Champs Elysees. The location was superb. The next day we woke up we checked the Paris fashion week schedule and hit the shows. When is Paris Fashion Week? You may wonder. Paris fashion week dates are always in the end of February or beginning of March and in the end of September or in the beginning of October. They also have Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week in January and July, where designers show case their collection of elegant evening dresses. Every day we visited about 2-3 fashion shows. The Shows of the Fashion Week Paris
The Paris fashion week street style is always remarkable. People from all over the World show up at these shows in the most colorful outfits. My friend who I went to see the shows with is one of these people with a remarkable style. We saw a number of shows of Paris fashion week designers such as Isabel Marant, Victor & Rolf, Celine, Vivienne Westwood, Yohji Yamamoto. Victor & Rolf was a cool show the catwalk was painted to look like a street and a guitar player was playing during the show on the side of the catwalk. They even installed a street light on the catwalk. I was not very impressed by the cloths.
Asians love this designer, there were so many of them in the audience. We also ran into Karlie Kloss backstage. She is so tall. She must be around 185cm.
My absolute favorite show was the Vivienne Westwood show. It took place in a church. The show, the cloths and the models were all so beautiful. Fashion shows in Paris are always very memorable.
I did run into Juergen Teller backstage after the show. Juergen discovered me as a model over 10 years ago back in Budapest and him and his partner invited me to shoot in London for several magazines when I was 17. Bumping into him brought back some very special memories. We chatted for a while about my life and his work. He was with his daughter, who grew up since the last time I saw her. She must be around 15 years old now. I remember when she was still a toddler. The Yohji Yamamoto show was right next to the Eiffel Tower, so The Globalite and I took some photos right in front of the famous Tower. It’s a must every time I go to Paris. A week in Paris is always amazing, so I do it once every year regardless of fashion week. This city is wonderful. This week in Paris is especially wonderful, because of all the shows and parties that take place during the week. Also, because all the glamorous people descend in Paris during fashion week.
If you want to enjoy Paris nightlife, check out the Moulin Rouge in Paris.
Saturday night we went to the Anne Fontaine Party in the Palais de Tokyo. Coconut water was the sponsor so they were giving out coconut water for free. That was a nice surprise for somebody like me who doesnt really like drinking alcohol. The party was a bit boring, we did get a nice gift bag with a white collar that can be attached to a blouse. The next day we hit a couple of more shows. At this point I was showed out. The main Paris fashion week location was the Jardin des Tuileries by the Louvre. It was such a beautiful setting. We took some nice photos in the garden.
The Best Party of Fashion Week Paris
Fashion week in Paris has some of the best events and parties of the year. These events are not in the Paris Fashion Week calendar, but it is easy to find out about them at the shows or from the designers. At night we went to the best party I had been to in a very long time. It was organised by Porter Magazine. The whole fashion industry was there. It was an amazing party. All the top models, designers showed up. Rihanna was there with a group of bodyguards. No one was allowed to take any photos of her. We did manage to take a photo of Jessica Alba with The Globalite. Jessica was very nice.
We saw many of the topmodels like Arizone Muse, Anja Rubik. The party was at the Hotel Salomon de Rotschild, which is an amazing venue with lots of booze and food. The room was full of creative artsy types, photographers, models, designers, fashion bloggers. It was certainly a great party. We chatted with Peter Pilotto. It was funny, as the Globalite was wearing his design.
Next day we visited some museums and indulged on delicious French sweets. We found a store that sold only eclairs.
We tasted a couple of them and they were all very delicious. On Sunday night I flew back to London, I was partied out and recharged. I was excited about the great weekend we had in Paris.
