Frieze Art Fair is the most significant art fair in London. It is an important week, not only because art lovers and celebrities from all over the World come to London to buy and sell art, but also, because this week has some of the best parties of the year. This year, there were plenty of great parties and openings all around the city. The week started off with the opening of the PAD exhibit in a tent in the middle of Berkeley Square. Valentino was at the opening party. Saatchi Gallery had a Chanel exhibit. This also had a fancy opening party.
Art Event at Christie’s
Christie’s had a Vanity Fair party where all the richest people of all over Europe showed up.
The whole jet-set crowd from the South of France was present, including millionaires from New York and Russian oligarchs. The champagne was flowing.
Mick Jagger at the Chiltern Firehouse
I managed to run into Mick Jagger twice during the week. I said hi to him the first time I saw him at the Chiltern Firehouse and told him his concert last year in Paris was amazing. He seemed very happy and kind. Two days later I ran into him at Frieze Masters.
Vivienne Westwood at Frieze Art Fair 2015
We were even fortunate enough to catch Vivienne Westwood talk at Frieze. She is also 73 years old, but very committed to her political views and she is never afraid to express them. I must admit, she looks great for her age.
The exhibition itself had some nice pieces. Everyone loved the giant inflated cat and the silver spotted pumpkin. Some of the pieces were remarkable, but most of them were not.
Frieze Masters
Frieze Masters displayed some interesting, expensive art by Picasso and Jean-Michal Basquiat. I also loved the installations in the PAD tent. There were some beautiful interior designs in all sorts of colors and styles and lots of funky furniture.
Frieze Art Fair was an interesting fair, I will surely be back next year again.
