Arakur – Luxury Resort on the Peak of Ushuaia, Argentina

View from Arakur Hotel in Ushuaia, Argentina

As the bus drove in from Chile to Ushuaia, I was amazed by the beautiful mountains of the city. I noticed a green building on top of one of the mountains and I was curious to find out what it was. Soon, I found out that it was the most amazing hotel in town, called Arakur Ushuaia Resort & Spa, where I was staying for the next three nights. An hourly shuttle bus delivered the guests from the city center up to this beautiful luxury resort. As the shuttle was driving up the long and winding mountain roads, I felt like I was approaching a hidden castle on the top of the mountain in the middle of the forest.  The hotel is a 5 star hotel, with all the luxury one can imagine in a mountain resort. As I walked into the lobby, the wall-to-wall windows provided the most incredible views of the city and the surrounding mountains and the sea. It is the most beautiful view of the Tierra del Fuego any visitor can imagine. It was a very special and relaxing experience to see this view every morning, when I woke up. At night, I could see the entire city lit up in lights. It was really wonderful. The lobby also has a large comforting fireplace, that people could sit next to and relax.

The Rooms of Hotel Arakur

The furniture in the rooms is made out of wood. The chairs are covered with warm and natural colors such as grey and blue. It makes the room feel very relaxing. If you are lucky, you can have a view of the mountains surrounding Ushuaia. The best thing about the room is that there is a glass window between the room and the bathroom and you can always see what is happening in the bathroom. The bathroom has a big bathtub as well as a modern shower and a separate toilet. The room is very modern and the bed is as comfortable as you can imagine. The blinds are all automated and you can move them up and down by pressing a bottom next to your bed. I loved that every day the cleaners would leave me dulce de leche filled little sheeps on my bed. It is a specialty of this region.

The Breakfast

The breakfast offers many choices. Argentinians love sweets and they offer many different kinds of cakes for breakfast. They usually all have dulce de leche. It is a caramel spread that is overly popular around here. You also have some savory options, such as omlettes with various sausages and bacon. You can find anything you can ever dream about for breakfast. All sorts of different juices, teas, yogurts.

Wellness

The hotel has a large spa, where they offer a variety of services to the visitors. It has a large pool, an inside and an outside jacuzzi and a sauna. You can schedule a massage or a variety of different treatments in the spa.

One of the best things about the hotel is that they organize hikes around the hotel. There are three scheduled hikes a day to visit the neighboring mountains. These are guided hikes that allow you to discover the area for free.

Staying at the Arakur Ushuaia Resort & Spa is a very special experience. Waking up with a mountain view every morning in Ushuaia was amazing. Admiring the views of Ushuaia from my breakfast table was a memorable experience, as well as seeing the entire city lit up every evening when I walked into the hotel.
