View of the Crystal Phallos

London is an old historical city and the concept of skyscrapers is a rather new phenomenon in this city. In the last few years a couple of New York like modern buildings appeared in East London. These buildings host some really incredible restaurants, where visitors not only get to enjoy great food, but also observe the incredible view of the City of London. The restaurants I reviewed below all provide an incredible view to the city. There are many nice restaurants in London, but these places are special, because they also provide a spectacular view to the city. I would recommend any tourists to visit one of these places, during their time in London. Dining in such altitude is a very special experience especially when you are sitting in a spectacular restaurant eating the dishes by World famous chefs. The view from these places is almost as great as watching London from the London Eye. These are some of the best London restaurants with view to the whole city.

The Shard

The Shard is the tallest building of the European Union. It is an 87 story glass pyramid right by London Bridge. The five-star hotel Shangri-La is located in the bottom of the building. On the top of the building, you have a choice of some of the best restaurants in London, such as Hutong, which is famous for its interior design and its excellent Chinese cuisine, Aqua Shard and Obelix that serves Italian cuisine. Restaurants in the Shard are famous for their best view and for great food as well. The Shard restaurants offer some of the best views of the city. A dinner at the Shard can be costly. People, who don’t want to spend money on some of the top London restaurants, the Shard Bar is a good option.

The Hutong

The best and most expensive dining experience of the Shard is at the Hutong. Hutong is on the upper floor and the view from up there is spectacular. It is one o the top restaurants in London. You can see the entire Tower of London, Canary Wharf, the Thames, St Paul’s Cathedral beneath you. Make sure you book a table by the window in order to have the best view of the city. Hutong itself is an amazing experience even without the view. It has the most incredible interior design. You feel like you flew back in time and you are in ancient China. Everything is wooden inside. The men’s room is the best men’s room I have ever seen. I snuck in to take a photo. Luckily there was nobody inside to catch me in action. I don’t like Chinese food, but the food at Hutong is a real culinary experience. It is different from any other Chinese restaurants, I tried before. I absolutely loved the crispy soft shell crab with Sichuan dried chilli as well as the roasted Peking Duck. It is definitely one of the best London restaurants when it comes to Chinese food.

The Duck was cut up and served by the chef at our table. We also had the steamed cod fillet with Sichuan peppercorn. The portions are all large enough for two people to share. The food is superb, the decoration is beautiful. The service is good. The view of the city is breathtaking. Hutong is a very special experience. Make sure you get your reservation in advance. It is one of those places to eat in London that you won’t easily forget. This place is my favorite of all the restaurants with a view in London. The food is wonderful. It is one of the best places to eat in London.

 Heron Tower

SushiSamba and Duck and Waffle are the two Heron Tower restaurants. They are located on the 36th and 37th floor of the Heron Tower on Bishopsgate by Liverpool Street Station. These are some of the most posh restaurants in London. These rooftop restaurants in London are great places for a drink or dinner. These restaurants provide a spectacular view of London. They offer some of the best views in London. These City of London restaurants have great bars. You can just go up for a drink if you want to see London lit up in the middle of the night. The good thing is that Duck & Waffle is open 24/7, so you can pay a visit anytime of the day. It s a great place to get a late night snack on my way home from a party. Once, I went up there and watched a sunrise while having breakfast. It was a very memorable experience to see the entire city waking up below me as the sun was rising. It is one of the cool restaurants in London.

SushiSamba

The restaurant has a lively bar with colourful cocktails. It has a beautiful terrace with a large lit up tree. The restaurant is usually fully booked, but they usually have a seat by the sushi bar. The décor of the restaurant is fun and colourful. They serve Japanese food with a twist of Latin American influence. It is not the best Japanese food I have ever had, but certainly the most decorative food I have ever seen. All the dishes are colourful and well presented. I really like the black cod and some of their colourful sushi rolls. The atmosphere is usually very young and fun. It is a very pleasant place to eat. It is one of London’s best restaurants. If you want to eat great Japanese food at one of the London restaurants with a view, then this is the place for you.

Duck & Waffle

The restaurant has a wide variety of options. It serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Their signature dish is the duck with Waffle. The duck is amazing. It is worth going there only for that. Their cuisine is mainly British. The food is decent. They sell oysters and clams. Their beet salad is decent, as well as their ravioli. It is one of the best restaurants with a view in London.

The bacon wrapped dates are probably the best thing on the menu. The place is great. It is a great place for a late night bite. Probably it is a bit pricier than the corner kebab shop in Shoreditch, but you pay for the atmosphere, the experience and the view of the crystal phallus (Gherkin) right next door.

The Walkie Talkie Building

The Walkie Talkie building is also located in the City of London closer to Monument station. The building on 20 Fenchurch Street is the 5th tallest building in London and it has a distinctive shape that reminds the visitors of a shape of a walkie talkie. It has a top heavy form that bursts upward and outward. The building has 34 floors. The strict security in the lobby of the building made me feel like I was at an airport. If you take the elevator up to the top of the building, you will find yourself in the Sky Garden, which is huge atrium and garden, featuring hundreds of species of plants and flowers. It makes you feel like you are in a big botanical garden in the middle of a big city. There is a busy bar in the middle of the floor. Green bicycles are installed in the middle for decoration. If you walk up the stairs, you can see the entire garden from above and you can take some spectacular photos. Visitors have a choice of two walkie talkie restaurants to dine at. On the 36th floor, there is a French brasserie called Darwin Brasserie or on the 37th floor another one called Fenchurch Bar & Grill.

Fenchurch Bar & Grill

Fenchurch Bar & Grill is the fancier restaurant at the Walkie Talkie building. They serve really average and overpriced food. To be honest, the restaurant was disappointing. I would not recommend you to go there. The food they serve is really not worth what you pay for it. The place serves oysters and caviar as well as traditional English food. The menu does not have too many options. I had the rabbit Bolognese to start with. It was ok, but not great. Then I had the whole dover sole which was average. Also, the restaurant has no view, because it is in a box on top of the garden. So, my suggestion to all my dear readers is to go to the Walkie Talkie building for a drink at the bar, but don’t bother going to Fenchurch Bar & Grill. It is certainly not one of my favorite restaurants in the city of London.
