Diving in the Red Sea - Diving on the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt

Diving in the Red Sea – Diving on the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt

We went to Egypt on a family trip to scuba dive for a week. Red Sea holidays are usually reasonably priced and good value for money. Dive trips can be very expensive sometimes, but in Egypt it is still reasonable. Red Sea resorts are usually all-inclusive 4-5 star resorts. Diving in Egypt is a very special experience as the Red Sea offers some of the best dive sites in the World. This time, we decided to explore Marsa Alam as opposed to Sharm-El Sheik, where my parents usually spend their vacations. We used to do scuba diving holidays every year with my family to Sharm-El Sheik and this was our first time in Marsa Alam. Marsa Alam Hotels are great places for scuba diving as most of them have their own private coral reefs for divers.

Marsa Alam Hotels and Diving in the House Reef

Marsa Alam Hotels are amazing. It is a newly built resort town, where the resorts are fairly new. Diving is great, because it is less frequented by divers and the underwater life is more densely populated. Our hotel in Marsa Alam was the luxurious Brayka Bay Reef Resort. Most hotels in Marsa Alam, Egypt are newly built and offer lots of services. Ours was a beautiful hotel with amazing food and service. The hotel has its own protected coral beach and it is the perfect place for those who want to learn to scuba dive, because the water is shallow. They also offered many scuba diving packages.

Egypt, Marsa Alam has some of the most spectacular diving sites around the Red Sea. I got my second scuba diving certification here in a few days, so I became and Advanced Scuba Diver. The shop at the resort offered a wide variety of Padi dive courses. Scuba Diving courses are fun, but they require a bit of work while you are on vacation. You have to read a book and take tests and also do diving. Marsa Alam is a great place to learn to scuba dive, because the water is warm and shallow. I went on the first night dive of my life. It was quiet cool, because lots of fishes come out at night to hunt and many of them lit up underwater. However it was a bit intimidating as well. I also tried wreck diving. It was cool to dive inside a shipwreck. Red Sea diving is fun as there were so many fish in the sea.  It was like an aquarium. The visibility was great. There were many parrot fish and lion fish that had their wings spread. I had to be very careful with lion fish as they are poisonous. Its interesting that some of the most beautiful things in the ocean can be so harmful. Clown fish were pretty common. We saw a few Moray Eel. The area is famous for the Dugong also known as sea pig. Unfortunately we did not see any dugongs underwater. Overall it was a beautiful experience to dive in Egypt, the underwater life was nothing I had ever seen before. Diving in Marsa Alam, Egypt is certainly a very colorful and exciting experience and I recommend everyone to come here to learn to dive. Diving in Egypt is one of the best scuba-diving experiences in the World.

Every night there was a different show at the hotel to provide some fun for the guests after dinner. My favourite show was a Tanoura dance performance. It is an Egyptian folks dance. A Tanoura dancer is spinning around to imitate the movements of the planet. He was wearing four enormous skirts each symbolised a different season. The dancer was continuously spinning these skirts around his body. If you go to Egypt you must see this spectacular performance. Marsa Alam holidays will not only allow you to relax, but will bring you closer to nature and allow you to enjoy the luxury of a beautiful beach and resort. Egyptian Dancer
