Sri Lanka has a wide variety of birds, therefore it is a heaven for bird lovers. One of the most famous ones is the colorful Kingfisher. Hop on a boat and take the Lagoon Safari to get to know all the different species of this beautiful island. You will take the boat through amazing green lush where you can discover some of the most exotic birds of Asia.
Tea is one of the most famous product grown in Ceylon. Ceylon Tea is a famous morning tea all over the World. Visitors love seeing how this famous tea is produced and also have a chance to try out some of their favorite brands. Adventurous travelers get out in the fields and pick some tea. The environment is beautiful. The tea plantations are green and peaceful. Visitors receive the proper outfit for tea picking. A hat to protect them from the sun, a large basket on their back and a long stick to help them equalize the bush and help them identify tea leaves that are ready to be harvested. It is a fun experience to pick some of your own tea. Ishanda is a smiley naturalist who will guide you through the forest of Nuwara Eliya with his large flashlight in the dark to introduce you the various frog species of Sri Lanka. He also uses red light to ensure the light doesn’t molest the animals. Apparently, Sri Lanka has the most frog species in the World per square meter. We saw about five different types. We also learned about the local flowers and vegetation from Ishanda. He is very knowledgeable, when it comes to local species. Ask him any questions you want, he will answer them.
4. Dolphin Watching with Sail Lanka
If you love ocean life, you must hop on a sailboat or a catamaran of Sail Lanka to discover the incredible ocean life of the Indian Ocean. You will see hundreds of dolphins and whales swimming along the boat in the crystal clear water. These beautiful creatures jump up and down as they move along the boat. It is an absolutely wonderful experience.
5. Turtle Hatchery in Kosgoda
Visit a turtle hatchery to see turtles of all sizes and colors. The locals collect the eggs of the turtles and protect them so that other predators or people wont steal them. They wait for the turtles to be born and then release them back into the sea. For a small tip, the locals will let you release the baby turtles back to the sea. It is beautiful to watch how the little turtle is a bit cautious and reluctant to enter the big ocean and then he disappears into the endless ocean.
6. Safari in the Udawalawe National Park in Sri Lanka
Driving trough hills and rivers and watching wild animals in the National Park is what the Udawalawe National Park Safari is all about. It is great fun to see the animals and to be part of the beautiful nature. You will not only feel like you are on a rollercoaster in the theme park as the Jeep drives through some bumpy roads, but you will also see some of the most beautiful animals of Asia.
