We chartered a boat in St-Tropez to visit the island of Port Cros (Ile de Port Cros) for a day trip. It was wonderful to suntan on the deck of the boat for about an hour until we reached this beautiful, secluded island of the Cote d’Azur.
The island is a home of lots of colorful houses and great restaurants, serving fresh seafood and authentic French cuisine.
L’Anse de Port Cros on Ile de Port Cros
Our captain dropped us off in the port and we had one of the most amazing lunches in the local fish restaurant called L’Anse de Port Cros. The dishes all looked and tasted spectacular. First we ordered a giant bottle of rose, which is a must with every lunch in the South 0f France.
We ordered a few appetizers, like mozzarella and tomato, fish carpaccio, crabs and octopus salads. They were beautifully decorated, prepared with fresh ingredients.
We picked the largest fish they had in the restaurant to be cooked on the grill. It was longer than a meter.
All the seafood it freshly caught from the Mediterranean. They served the most delicious sides with the main course, such as mac&cheese, vegetables and potatoes. To finish the meal, we ordered fresh strawberries with whipped cream and some ice-cream.
We ate more than we wanted to eat by the end of the lunch. Luckily we drank enough rose wine to help us digest all the amazing food we had. In the afternoon, we explored the stores around the island bought some local delicacies and souvenirs and headed back to St-Tropez on the boat. We stopped the boat to swim in the water, but the Mediterranean Sea is very cold in the South of France during the Summer, so I did not enjoy it. It was a beautiful day spent on the island of Port-Cros and I recommend everyone to charter a yacht and visit this spectacular island for lunch, when vacationing in St-Tropez.
