On a Yacht to Port-Cros

We chartered a boat in St-Tropez to visit the island of Port Cros (Ile de Port Cros) for a day trip. It was wonderful to suntan on the deck of the boat for about an hour until we reached this beautiful, secluded island of the Cote d’Azur.

The island is a home of lots of colorful houses and great restaurants, serving fresh seafood and authentic French cuisine.

Our captain dropped us off in the port and we had one of the most amazing lunches in the local fish restaurant called L’Anse de Port Cros. The dishes all looked and tasted spectacular. First we ordered a giant bottle of rose, which is a must with every lunch in the South 0f France.

We ordered a few appetizers, like mozzarella and tomato, fish carpaccio, crabs and octopus salads. They were beautifully decorated, prepared with fresh ingredients.

We picked the largest fish they had in the restaurant to be cooked on the grill. It was longer than a meter.

All the seafood it freshly caught from the Mediterranean. They served the most delicious sides with the main course, such as mac&cheese, vegetables and potatoes. To finish the meal, we ordered fresh strawberries with whipped cream and some ice-cream.

We ate more than we wanted to eat by the end of the lunch. Luckily we drank enough rose wine to help us digest all the amazing food we had. In the afternoon, we explored the stores around the island bought some local delicacies and souvenirs and headed back to St-Tropez on the boat. We stopped the boat to swim in the water, but the Mediterranean Sea is very cold in the South of France during the Summer, so I did not enjoy it. It was a beautiful day spent on the island of Port-Cros and I recommend everyone to charter a yacht and visit this spectacular island for lunch, when vacationing in St-Tropez.

  • This looks amazing and wow look at all that FOOD :)))

    • Barb

Thanks Jo! yes, it was a pretty fun trip!

  • I visited Cote d’Azur many times over the years, but have never been on the sea in that area. It seems you had a lot of fun on that yacht. I’m sure this was a great trip. Saint Tropez made a name for itself back in the late 50s – early 60s, mostly because of its nude beaches. The French actress Brigitte Bardot –one of the sexiest film stars ever– spent a lot of time on these beaches.

    • Barb

Yes, these beaches are really beautiful! Bardot is the face of St-tropez even today. It is a beautiful part of the World.

  • Looks like loads of fun Barbara. And how about that delicious desert. Delightful. What a luxe trip and traveling on a yacht no less. Interesting how cold the water gets in that part of the world. I’d never have guessed it as I always assume warm and toasty in those climes, water-wise.

    • Barb

HI Ryan, thanks for your comment. I know, I wish it was like that. Unfortunately, the water is very cold there. The trip was certainly memorable.

  • This looks like an amazing luxury trip, St Tropez just has that sort if vibe. But I’m more excited about that bottle of Rose – flipping awesome party you could have with that!

I love St Tropez and heading out on the boats around the sea and checking out the rugged coastline. Must say girls, you looking very great for the photos in typical cote d’Azur fashion 🙂

    • Barb

      Haha, thank you!

  • Rose wine, strawberries and whipped cream, the French Riviera, and a yacht! Sounds like such a decadent day! I was in Cannes and a few other small Cote d’Azur towns years ago. The allure of the place is in as much its beauty as its ambiance.

    • Barb

Yes, it s a beautiful place. I love it. We keep going back every Summer.
