Malta was family vacation with my parents. I flew from Marseilles to Valletta after spending a week in St-Tropez with friends. Travel to Malta is easy, as there are many direct flights from all over Europe. There are some beautiful places to Visit in Malta. The island had beautiful beaches, so I quiet enjoyed spending a week laying on the beach with my family. We spent the week visiting different beaches around the island every day. Holidays to Malta are reasonably priced and the island offers great hotels and facilities for adults and children. There are plenty of things to do in Malta for beach lovers as well as for people who want to learn about the many layers of the history of the island.
Beautiful Places to Visit in Malta
You probably think Malta is another one of those beach islands on the Mediterranean. That’s what I thought before I went there as well. First, I was wondering what to do in Malta for a week, because I am not the kind of person, who will lay on the beach for a week, but soon I realized that there was much more things to see in Malta, than just beaches. The historical site of Malta was beautiful. One day we visited the historical town of Valletta which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is also the smallest capital of the EU. The walled historical city was very beautiful. There were many interesting things to do in Valletta. The presidential palace was the main Malta points of interest. The view from up there to the surrounding sea was amazing. Walking around the old streets of Valletta made me feel like I flew back in time a couple of hundreds of years. It was somewhat magical.
We visited the Palace of the Grand Masters which serves as the President’s office and as the Maltese parliament nowadays. We visited the Knight’s Armoury as well.
If you are wondering what more to see in Malta, check out Valletta’s cathedrals and chapels. They are everywhere.
It felt a little bit like Italy, because there was a church on every corner. Everything was white, elegant and beautiful. There were some beautiful statues all over the city. Valletta was an incredible, historical city. We truly enjoyed the experience of learning about the knights who lived in Valletta about 400 years ago and who built this city in the 16th century. Holidays in Malta can be a beautiful experience, as it is a wonderful place to discover history. The historical city was certainly one of the best places to visit in Malta.
The Islands of Malta
One of my favourite beaches in Malta was the Golden Bay on the northwest coast of the island. Beaches in Malta were all beautiful, but this was one of Malta’s most beautiful beach.
We also took the ferry around Gozo and Comino to visit some of the most spectacular beaches one can imagine. There were not many things to do in Gozo besides swimming and sun-bathing. The Blue Lagoon was my favourite. This was certainly one of the best beaches in Malta.
It was like a picture taken out of a postcard with its light blue crystal clear waters and white sand. The beach was surrounded by rocks where people would jump into the water from. It was so picturesque. Vacation in Malta was relaxing and beautiful. We truly enjoyed spending time on this beautiful historical island.
