Best Places to Visit in Utah: Zion National Park and the Bryce Canyon

May 29, 2017

We drove from Vegas to Utah to see the Zion National Park and the Bryce Canyon in the afternoon. I believe these parks are some of the best places to visit in Utah. There are many things to do in Utah. It is a really beautiful state.  National parks are some of the main Utah tourist attractions. the National Parks in Utah

Visiting the Zion National Park is an easy drive from Vegas. It is only about 4,5 hours drive away to visit this beautiful park. Visiting this national park is one of the many fun things to do in Utah. We stopped to take a couple of photos. The scenery was stunning.

We were in the middle of the desert, there was nothing around us. We had no cell phone reception in the desert. We stopped at a local restaurant in the middle of nowhere. I had the best banana cream pie of my life in this small local joint. I will never forget that banana cream pie. Every time I see a banana cream pie, it reminds me of the Zion National Park now.

We continued driving towards the Bryce Canyon. This canyon is one of the most beautiful places to visit in Utah.

Bryce Canyon was a truly breath-taking experience. It was certainly one of the best things to see in Utah. It is one of those places that you can see 1000 pictures of, but you will have to be there in person to truly experience this place. You feel so small among these giant orange rock formations. It is a magical experience to be part of this magnificent nature. These two canyons are two of the main Utah points of interests.

We spent the night in a motel on the border of Utah and Arizona. We had dinner at the local diner. I am not a fan of diners, but there was nothing else around there. There was a big sign on the door that no guns were allowed inside. It was scary! Lets not forget that we were in the middle of the Wild Wild West. Everything on the menu of the diner was deep fried in oil. I ordered the only salad they had on the menu, which was swimming in oil. Everyone in the restaurant was grossly overweight. I am sorry I come from NY and people look much healthier around there. Utah was an absolutely spectacular place to visit. If you are wondering what to do in Utah after seeing the national parks, head to South Lake City and check out the capital of Utah state.

I love exploring the national park system in the US. I’ve yet to visit Zion or Bryce Canyon but they are certainly on my bucket list. Utah is a great part of the US though, I’ve skied in Park City and I love the way the desert meets the mountains.

    • Barb

True, it is a very diverse, beautiful state! Seeing the salt flats of Utah must be very interesting.

I visited both Bryce and Zion during a family self-drive trip back when I was a teenager (a good 3 decades ago) and both were so impressive that they are still amongst the top memories for places of natural beauty that I have visited. Totally agree with your recommendation to see these gorgeous parks when in Utah.
