Things To Do in Hong Kong: Sightseeing, Partying and Shopping

March 25, 2017

I flew from Manila to Hong Kong and I was blown away by this city. Travel to Hong Kong is easy as there are so many flights from all over the World flying to Hong Kong every day. Hong Kong is my new favorite city. I loved this place from the moment I arrived. I took the double decker bus from the airport. I was sitting in the front row on the top floor and I was watching the whole city beneath me. It was amazing. Spring is the best time to visit Hong Kong. It is just before the typhoon season. It was like the Asian version of New York. There were so many lights everywhere and it was so chaotic.

I spent about 20 minutes at my hotel and then I went to meet my friend Norbi right away and we went to the party area called LKF (Lan Kwai Fong). There were so many things to do in Hong Kong on the first night. We hit a couple of hot spots. It was a fun night! We ended the night on the top of the LKF Hotel. In this city, you never have to wonder what to do in Hong Kong, because there is party everywhere.

Next morning I woke up early to get to the Chinese embassy on time to get a Chinese visa. I took the Star Ferry across the bay. The Star Ferry is a commuter ferry between Hong Kong Island and the mainland. This ferry has been transporting people since 1888. I loved the ride. I would recommend everyone to ride the Star Ferry at least once. It is one of the coolest things to do in Hongkong. I could see the entire island from the ferry with all the skyscrapers around me.

The view was stunning. Later on I met up with my friend Norbi and we continued sightseeing. We went up to the place called The Peak, the highest point of Hong Kong. This place is one of the best places to visit in Hong Kong. From this point you can see the entire city and the bay with all the funky ships. Plus you can also see the pollution above the city. We also visited a couple of Buddhist temples. Temples are everywhere in Hong Kong. These are the main Hong Kong points of interest.

At one of the Buddhist temples, I consulted another fortune teller. This time it was a Chinese Astrologist. I did not like what he told me, so I was very dismissive with him. My favourite Buddhist Temple was the Temple of Ten Thousand Buddhas. This was one of the best Hong Kong tourist spots.

That temple had over 10000 golden Buddhas. If you are wondering where to go in Hong Kong, you should definitely put this on your list of things to see in Hong Kong. We also visited the Hong Kong Historical Museum. This was one of my favorite Hong Kong tourist attractions. I thought it was pretty cool. It showed me the history of Hong Kong and how Hong Kong was liberated from the Brits. It is an incredibly interesting museum. I also rode the longest pedestrian escalator in the World. It took about 15 minutes to get to the top. This was one of the main tourist attractions in Hong Kong. I also watched the light show of Hong Kong at night, when all the skyscrapers lit up on Hong Kong Island. This was definitely one of the top things to do in Hong Kong.

Also visited the Night Market on Temple Street. I loved that market. It was one of the coolest places to go to in Hong Kong. You could literally buy anything and everything. So, I spent 3 days doing sightseeing and partying in Hong Kong. I loved it there. I could move there anytime. The last time I felt like this about a city, was when I first arrived to New York City when I was 14.

Shopping in Hong Kong

Hong Kong is the most commercial city I have ever been to in my life. There is a shopping center on every corner and people here literally shop till they drop. Luxury goods are the things to buy in Hong Kong. All the designer stores have a line outside on any regular day. Here is a photo of the line in front of the Louis Vuitton shop on a Monday morning. On Monday morning I picked up my passport from the Chinese embassy and headed to Macau for some more fun.
