Best Things to Do in Krakow
Mom accompanied me for a weekend in Poland to check out all the things to Do in Krakow and in Auschwitz. I was really excited to go visit the place because it had been on my bucket list for a while. Krakow was only about a five hour bus ride away from Budapest. We left on Saturday morning and arrived by noon. Krakow looked just like any other Central-European City. The town was fairly small, so we did not have to wonder very long about what to do in Krakow, because everything was right in front of us. Krakow old town was very charming. There was a main market square in the central of the town with a big church. Churches were the main Kraków points of interest. There were churches everywhere around the city.

After seeing the old town, we were wondering what to see in Krakow, because the town seemed so small, but we came across a big castle called Wawel on the top of a hill right by the river. We saw many little churches everywhere in the town. The Jewish district was amongst the many interesting things to see in Krakow. We had some good Polish sandwiches at a local food stand. It reminded me of a pizza. Krakow reminded me very much of the German cities or Prague. It was small and fascinating. We could see everything in a few hours. Holidays to Krakow can be a very pleasant experience as there are so many things to see in this charming city.
Auschwitz
The next day I went to visit Auschwitz to see the memorial museum of the nazi concentration camps. One of the best day trips from Krakow is to see Auschwitz. Traveling from Krakow to Auschwitz was easy. It took about half an hour to get there by bus. First, I was debating whether to take an Auschwitz tour from Krakow, but then I decided to do the trip on my own. I recognized the “Arbeit Macht Frei” sign of the entrance from far away. It means “Work Frees You”. I was a little horrified to go there first, but I wanted to go there to learn about history and see what happened there. I saw the camp and the gas chambers. It was dreadful to see the belongings of people who had died there. I saw many Hungarian names on the walls. I was sad to see that so many of my people had to end their lives in such unfortunate circumstances. In the end, I thought it was a very tragic place, but it was also a very interesting learning experience for me from the historical perspective.
