We took the ferry from Santorini island to Mykonos. It took less than three hours to land on the island of Mykonos. Mykonos is easily accessible by flight or by ferry. The island has its own airport and there are frequent flights to Mykonos from all over Europe. Where is Mykonos, you may ask me. Mykonos Island is one of the most touristy islands of Greece. It is part of the Cyclades. It lies between Tinos, Syros, Paros and Naxos. The weather in Mykonos is usually very warm during the Summer, so it is an ideal destination for a beach/party vacation. The best time to visit Mykonos is in the end of the Summer/beginning of the Fall when it is slightly less crowded. Mykonos in September is still warm, but it is less crowded and less expensive than it is during high season, so it is still a good time to visit the island. After arriving in Mykonos, we walked around the narrow white tiny streets of the island. There were lots of cool shops and restaurants. The buildings were all painted white and blue. We already realized that there were many things to do in Mykonos and we were certain that we were gonna have a good time.

First Impressions of Mykonos
Mykonos was very small. We quickly discovered the iconic landmark of Mykonos, the three windmills on the side of the mountain.
You could pretty much see this from anywhere in the city. We sat down in Little Venice by the water at a place called Caprice and watched the sun set. Watching the sunset from Caprice is one of the best things to do in Little Venice. The colors of the sun reflect in the sea and the waves are splashing the coast. It is somewhat of a romantic experience.
It was beautiful. We made some new friends from the States, surprisingly they were not gay. Everyone on the island were gay. I have no problem with gays, but there were not too many available guys for us. So it was refreshing to meet somebody who was actually slightly interested in me.
Next morning we went to Super Paradise Beach and spent the day at Pinky Beach next to Paradise Club in Mykonos, which is the craziest nightclub on the island. They invite many world-famous DJs here to play. The beaches in Mykonos are beautiful and the beach parties are amazing. Hanging on the beaches and enjoying the pumping music of the beach clubs is one of the best things to do in Mykonos, Greece.
Next to Pinky Beach there was a nude beach. I saw way too many naked gay men that day. We had lunch at Jackie’O, the restaurant next door. Their beet salad and the meatballs were very tasty. The view from the restaurant was spectacular. The water was crystal clear and beautiful.
Super Paradise next door turned into a huge party in the afternoon. The music was pumping and everyone was dancing on the tables. Sexy gay boys were dancing everywhere in their little speedos.
In the evening we walked around the beautiful elegant white streets of Mykonos and we had some delicious frozen yogurt. After dinner, we went to the bar Jackie’O that the gay guys recommended us in our hotel. We quickly realized that the bar was super gay and we were the only straight people there so we headed home early.
Things to Do in Mykonos by the Day
Next morning we went to Nammos Beach which was a very civilized beach compared to Super Paradise the day before.
The guys were dressed up. The water was crystal clear and beautiful. The beach was packed with beautiful people. After the sun went down, there was a huge party on the beach with lots of champagne. Nammos is definitely one of the best beaches in Mykonos. I spent the afternoon there laying in the sun. Later we hopped over to Tropicana Beach where they had the craziest day party I had seen in a very long time. The bartender was wearing almost nothing.
People were dancing on the tables. The crowd was young and crazy.
Mykonos by Night
In the evening after a lovely dinner on the port, we went to the bar called The Queen on the streets of Mykonos and later we hit Caprice. The Queen had a great atmosphere. Many good-looking people were drinking on the street. After a few drinks, we went to Caprice in Little Venice. This tiny bar was accommodating way more people than its capacity. It was very dark inside, the music was fantastic and the cocktails were so tasty. I had so much fun! Finally, this place was not as gay as everything else was in Mykonos. So, we had a great time on our last night in gay paradise island. Clubbing and enjoying the nightlife is one of the top things to do in Mykonos.
Next morning after a quick shopping tour around the town and another frozen yogurt, we took the ferry to Piraeus (Athens). It was a long ferry ride to reach the capital. We saw lots of islands along the way. We had a fantastic time on the Greek islands. This vacation was fabulous.
Best Restaurants in Mykonos
Nammos is on Psarou Beach about 15 minutes from the city center. It is the trendiest beach club in town. Frequent bus service or taxis can take you to the venue from the center of the town. Lots of yachts are docked around Nammos. The beach is absolutely beautiful. The water is crystal clear. Nammos is slightly overcrowded. They serve delicious dishes. The prices are overpriced for what it is, but most people who come here, don’t look at the prices anyway. I like their seafood, grilled fish, and other Greek specialties. Late afternoon the place turns into a big party. A champagne shower is not uncommon on a good afternoon. The music is pumping. The atmosphere is amazing, everyone in the restaurant is either dancing on the top of the tables or on the beach. People come here to watch the sunset and dance. This place is the most famous beach club in Mykonos. It has been around for the longest of all the places. It is a must see if you want to be part of a huge party.
Scorpios is a young place that opened last year on Paraga Beach. The place is stylish and beautiful. The food is very tasty. They sell tapas style dishes that people can share. These dishes reminded me of the flavors of the Middle-East. Scorpios is a beautiful spot to watch the sunset from. The party starts later in the afternoon. The best nights are Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. They invite different DJs to create an amazing atmosphere. Ibiza-like parties begin after sunset, where many people take drugs and dance in trance. I personally don’t like Ibiza-like parties and drugs so I was sitting there as an outside observer and watched what was happening on the scene. It was a bit dull after a while without drugs. There were a lot more men than women, but many of them were gay. Scorpio is a beautiful place for lunch or for watching the sunset. Even the party in the evening is nice to watch. This place is a must-see when you are in Mykonos.
Astra is a tiny bar with a large open terrace on the white cobbled streets of Mykonos. The place is more expensive than the other places in Mykonos. It is a small but trendy place with decent music and good-looking people. The place gets really crowded late at night. The nice thing about the place is that you can socialize on the open terrace on a warm night in Mykonos.
The bar is right across the street from Astra. Bonbonniere has many trendy, good-looking people. It is slightly more elegant than Astra. The hostess at the door makes sure to only let in well dressed, attractive people. The atmosphere is more relaxed outside on the terrace. It is crowded and dark inside and the music is very loud. It is hard to see the faces of the people, therefore I prefer to socialize on the terrace. The people are better looking here than at most other places in Mykonos.
Beautiful restaurant in a nice garden on a small hidden street in the center of Mykonos. It is expensive and it attracts the rich and famous. People, who frequent this place are beautiful and well-dressed. You can even spot some famous people here. This place is known as one of the best restaurants in Mykonos. The bar in the middle is great if you want fancy cocktails and mingle with others. The place has a talented bartender, who knows all the tricks of how to make fancy cocktails.
Day Trips from Mykonos
If you are wondering what to do in Mykonos, besides partying and hanging on the beach, you can do day trips from Mykonos to the nearby islands to Paros or Naxos.
You can also hop on a boat and visit the nearby Delos Island. There are 2 ferries a day one at 9, 10, 11 am and another one at 5 pm. The ferry comes back at 12:15 pm, 1:30 pm, 3 pm, and 8 pm. Delos is one of the most important hitorical, mythological and archaeological sites in Greece. According to the Greek mythology, the island was the birthplace of Athene and Artemis. Today, extensive excavations take place on the island and visitors can observe the local artifacts in the Archeological Museum of Delos. Visiting Delos Island is one of the best things to do in Mykonos.
